What they do
School Counselors support students by providing social and emotional guidance. They have to identify learning challenges for student while also helping sustain students friendships relationships and even prevent bullying(physical of emotional).
Work environment
School counselors operate primarily in public or private American School Counselor settings, balancing private office meetings with fast-paced, student-facing daily routines. The job blends academic advising, emotional counseling, and collaboration with teachers, administrators, and parents. It is a rewarding but demanding role that student problems shift throughout age and grade.
How to become one
You must earn a bachelor and master’s degree. While also obtaining hours of supervised coaching and you must pass examinations like the Texas E-12 exam.

A day in the life
The day usually starts early before school and Counselors must respond to email and read transcripts before counseling sessions in which can be brief or long depending of conflicts of emotions. Responsibility’s also shift depending of grade level and time of the year (such as school counselors are less active during the summer).
