How the Career Assessment works
No mystery, no magic — here is exactly how your answers become career matches.
1. Every answer earns points for career fields 🏅
Each assessment question has a few answer choices, and every choice quietly awards points to one or two of our career categories — like Healthcare, Technology, Arts & Design, or Science. A choice that strongly fits a field gives that field 2 points; a choice that only hints at it gives 1 point. For example, picking “Volunteering to help people or animals” gives 2 points to Healthcare and 1 point to Public Service.
2. Your points add up as you go ➕
When you finish the assessment, we total the points each career field collected across all of your answers. Every question counts equally, and there are no wrong answers — the assessment simply notices which fields keep showing up in the things you enjoy.
3. Your top 3 fields become your matches 🎉
The three fields with the most points are your matches, ranked #1, #2, and #3 (fields you never picked are left out — so you might see fewer than three). There is no randomness: the same answers always give the same matches. Ties go to the field you signaled first.
4. Matches turn into real careers to explore 🧭
For each matched field we show you the careers on this website that belong to it — click any of them to see what the job is really like, what it pays, and the steps to get there — plus a few extra career ideas to research beyond our site. Your results are calculated right on your device and are never saved or shared.
The questions and their point values are written and updated by our Girl Scout team. The assessment is a fun starting point for exploring — not a test, and not a limit on what you can become!
